Josephine by Karen Eastland

Josephine Marlin, at twenty-four, stood on the precipice of an extraordinary destiny, though she was blissfully unaware. The daughter of Theodora, the previous Bearer, Josephine was the linchpin in the delicate balance between light and darkness. The weight of the worlds rested on her slender, yet athletic shoulders.

The sun dappled through the leaves of the ancient oak, casting an ethereal glow on Josephine Marlin. At 5'9", she was a vision of youthful grace, her slender frame belying the strength and power that lay dormant within. Her reddish-blonde hair, a wild tangle of curls, framed a face of delicate features and full lips. her ancestry was Irish and Greek and while her hair and facial features were Irish, her skin was a lovely olive colour. But it was her eyes, a mesmerizing blend of brown and blue, that held a depth beyond her years, hinting at the ancient wisdom that lay slumbering in her soul.

Josephine, though seemingly an ordinary young woman on the cusp of her 25th year, was anything but. Unbeknownst to her, she was the chosen Bearer, destined to inherit the mantle of her mother, Theodora, and protect the worlds from the encroaching darkness. The weight of this destiny was a secret she carried unknowingly, a truth hidden beneath the layers of her carefully constructed life.

Trained from a young age in the arts of war and diplomacy, Josephine moved through her world with an effortless grace, her laughter echoing through the halls of her family's sprawling estate. Yet, beneath the surface, a quiet anticipation simmered. Her dreams were becoming increasingly vivid, filled with strange symbols and whispers of a forgotten language. A constant companion in these dreams, and in her waking life, was Brain, a voice in her head, offering cryptic guidance and unwavering support.

Brain, a remnant of the ancient Bearers, and was Josephine's link to her heritage, a repository of knowledge and power waiting to be unlocked. He was her confidante, her teacher, and her protector, she knew of his presence and they conversed daily. Brain could be funny but leaned towards the sarcastic. He'd been at it a very long time.

As Josephine navigated the complexities of her life, unaware of the cosmic forces swirling around her, Brain patiently waited, ready to guide her when the time came for her to embrace her destiny. The world teetered on the brink of chaos, and Josephine, the unsuspecting Bearer, was the key to its salvation.
